Sweet and Salty nuts

Ingredients

3 c. pecans (about one 8-oz. bag)
1 c. slivered almonds
1 egg white
1 Tbs. water
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1-1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. chipotle chili powder (optional)

Instructions

1. Heat oven to 300 degrees.
2. Cover a large cookie sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil
3. Combine egg white and water, and beat with a mixer until stiff peaks form. This may take up to 3 minutes.
4. Fold in sugar, salt and spices until well-blended.
5. Add nuts and mix well.
6. Pour mixture onto cookie sheet, using spatula to separate nuts into clumps.
7. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring at least 3 times.
8. Remove from oven and cool, separating into large pieces.

good to know

Toasting your nuts improves their flavor in almost any recipe including this one. If you want to make this recipe even more delicious, place them on a sheet or parchment or foil in a 300 degree oven until they turn brown and start to smell good. Timing will vary, but allow up to 20 minutes plus cooling time for this extra step.
