Chocolate fudge brownies

Picture

ingredients

2 sticks (1 c.) butter
4 oz. (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate
2 c. sugar
1 Tbs. vanilla
4 eggs
1 c. flour
1 c. chocolate chips

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Line 9x13 pan with a strip of parchment that covers entire bottom and hangs slightly over two ends of the pan.
3. Break chocolate into pieces and microwave with butter in large pyrex bowl until just melted, about 1-1/2 - 2/12 minutes on high power.
4. Add sugar and vanilla; stir to combine. If needed, cool to room temperature.
5. Add eggs one at a time, stirring each to incorporate.
6. Add flour and stir until just combined; stir in chocolate chips.
7. Pour/scrape into prepared pan.
8. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until sides are firm and top is no longer shiny. Refrigerate before slicing.

Makes one 9x13 pan; cut them as large or small as you like to determine serving size.

Good to know

Once the brownies are completely chilled, you can remove the entire (unsliced) brownie recipe from the pan at once by pulling up gently on the overhanging strips of parchment. Place on a large cutting board and slice quickly into squares using a long chef knife.

These brownies have only 2-3 more ingredients than the box, and taste shockingly better; it's so worth the slight additional effort to make them.
